ICE sells four types of CD discs for Music, Data and Game recording solutions. All products are labeled COOL BURN and are available in six COOL colors as CD-Rs, Music CD-Rs, CD-RWs (Re-Writable) and Music CD-RWs.

CD-R

CD-R discs are for computer recording applications. The CD-R is a write once technology and once written upon can be played back on any computer or CD player, including car stereos, walkmans and home CD players. Write speeds on CD-Rs are all downwards compatible, in other words a disc rated as 24X will function on a 4X drive as well as a 32X drive. On the 4X drive it will write at 4X while on the 32X drive it will write at 24X.

MUSIC CD-R

The Music CD-R, also referred to as Digital Audio, is also a write once technology and once written upon can be played back on any CD player. Music CD-Rs are primarily designed to be recorded in stand-alone home CD recorders. The difference between a standard CD-R and a Music CD-R is that the Music CD-R has a special encryption code on the disc. This code is recognized by the drive and is required to record onto the disc. Music CD-Rs can also be used in a computer recording application for Music, Game or Data files. Keep in mind a standard CD-R cannot be used to record in a home CD recorder since the encryption code is not present and the burner will not recognize the disc.

CD-RW

CD-RW or rewritable CD discs are for computer recording applications and are erasable and rewritable. There are two types or speed ratings for CD-RW discs; discs rated to 4X and discs rated to 10X or high speed discs. Slower rated discs will function in faster rated drives but high speed discs will not function in 4X or slower drives. Once recorded a CD-RW can be played on a CD player that is CD-RW compatible. Standard CD-Rs can also be recorded on a CD-RW drive.

MUSIC CD-RW

The Music CD-RW, also referred to as Digital Audio, is designed to be used in stand-alone home CD-RW recorders. The discs are erasable and rewritable. Music CD-RWs have a special encryption code on the disc. The code is recognized by the drive and is required to record onto the disc. Music CD-RWs can also be used for computer recording applications of Music, Game and Data files. Remember, a standard CD-RW cannot be used to record on a home CD-RW recorder since the encryption code is not present and the burner will not recognize the disc. Music CD-RW discs will function in a CD player that is CD-RW compatible.
